Discover all benefitsLocated on the first pre-Ardennes ridge, the Vendresse State Forest comes from the former private forest of Mazarin. It belonged from 1912 to 1962 to Professor Pol Bouin, a renowned endocrinologist from Vendresse. In 1964, the State made it a state forest. As early as 1912, Bouin introduced North American species such as Douglas fir and Vancouver fir, creating majestic tree-lined avenues today 40 meters high. Successive reforestations from 1920 to 1950 enriched the forest with varied species, forming an arboretum alongside local species such as beech and sycamore maple. Descriptive panels, installed in 1998, and a phytosanitary observation area, set up in 1985, provide an educational discovery of the forest. The marked path allows visitors to admire these plantations, including numbered trees for the study of acid rain.
