This circuit is marked by two essential elements of the Argonne, water and forest.

(D/A) Place du Parlement, in Bairon with the possibility to park there. From the Place, head along the towpath alongside the Ardennes canal towards Montgon. Do not leave the towpath, continue straight ahead until reaching Montgon.
(1) Turn left, leave the towpath, and head toward the village. Continue straight, leaving the small road on the left, pass by the church, in front of the wash house, and continue in front of the town hall.
(2) Cross the road and enter opposite, rue de la petite cote. Go down to the main street. At the main street, turn left and then again left a few dozen meters further. Pass in front of a first small castle, continue straight, and pass in front of the castle of Mélimé. Continue straight.
(3) Turn left on a path between the fields, then left and right, then again left. Walk and enter the wood of Étots. Continue straight ahead.
(4) Turn left and enter the wood of Voncq. Continue straight, cross a small stream, and continue straight ahead.
(5) At the end of the wood, slightly go up to the right, then continue left towards RD23. Pass in front of the Chapelle Ste Geneviève and stay on Marcelot path. Enter the heart of the village of Alleux.
(6) At the corner of the Town Hall, turn left onto rue du jardin brulé. Go up this street, pass by the church, and exit the village. Stay on RD23 for about 1 km.
(7) Turn left to enter the path and right a few dozen meters later. Continue straight and enter the wood of Sure.
(8) Turn right, staying on the marked route in the wood.
(9) At the junction with the small road, continue straight and stay on this road until reaching RD.
(10) At RD25, turn right and cautiously follow it towards Bairon.
(11) At the junction with the Pont Juillot, veer left and take the small path. Arrive at a farm at the entrance of Bairon, cross it and continue straight.
(12) At the intersection with the main street, turn left. 80m further, take the second left onto rue de la guinguette. Then turn right onto rue du bois de la coué and continue on this street until reaching the school.
(13) At the school, behind the town hall, turn left and move toward the church of St Jacques le Majeur. Pass to the left of the church and follow the canal on the right. Go up to Place du Parlement by way of a succession of steps.
