Circuit Woodies XT No. 9

Thank you to the French Federation of Hiking and to Xertigny in transition for the creation of this hike and the work done by its teams throughout the year to mark and maintain these paths. Marking: yellow rectangle n°9
8km panoramic circuit in a typical Vôge landscape, between pastures, fields, and forests, crossing hamlets made up of old farms, from the Aître Valley to the crests of Moyenpal.
This trail loops from and back to the Woodies (parking on rue de la Vallée de l'Aître). It is passable in both directions from the junction 29 rue Georges Colnot by following the numbered markers 09. The Woodies site consists of a set of holiday cottages built at the initiative of the municipality of Xertigny and the Pays d'Epinal to showcase the possibility of using beech in construction. Notable elements: Foundation stone of a farm dated 1686, at the corner of the retirement home.
Farm from 1703 built with stones from the old abbey, the door shows traces of Prussian occupation, see the facade, the inscriptions, further on the fountain and the masonry of the catchment.
Farm from 1712 with internal adjoining (double housing), communal barn (see cross and Lorrain cross on the cart entrance door), independent oven room from the main farm building.
A few meters away, also see the palisades, standing stones once used as parcel fences.
Panoramic view towards the Faucilles Mountains, Lamarche 50km due west with Mont des Fourches (503m), Le Col du Poirier (433m), Vittel 40km, the plateau of Sion-Vaudémont 40km to the northwest.
