Family walk - Chaillon Circuit

Circuit de Chaillon (Municipality of Le Thillot). Duration: 1h40. Difficulty: easy (family walk with children). Distance: 3.5 kilometers. Positive elevation: 126 meters. Marking: red disc, unmarked sections. Tourist points of interest: the summit of Chaillon with an orientation table, picnic area, and small wild pond in the heart of the woods. Departure: parking behind the church and the cemetery. Access: from the center of Thillot, climb towards the church that overlooks the municipality. Route description: From the parking lot, take the path that climbs along the cemetery towards "the Chaillon site". On your left, stop at the orientation table to admire the view of the village of Thillot near the picnic tables. Continue for 200 meters on the forest path. Pass near a playground (2 swings and a hut) with benches which is on the left. Continue straight for 100 meters still on the same path (do not take the left path with the red disc). Upon reaching a new intersection with a bench, take the path that rises between the bench and the "no entry" sign. Continue for 30 meters to reach the "extension" equipment and turn left for 30 meters. Continue on the path that rises past the "Heart rate control" equipment. Continue on the path for about 300 meters. You will pass in front of the "horizontal ladder" and "parallel bars" equipment. Another 10 meters to reach the intersection, take the left path, not the fitness trail. Continue straight on the path toward a bench then along a meadow for about 200 meters, you are at the center of an arboretum. Do not take the path that rises to the left with the "viewpoint / pond" sign. Continue for 50 meters and take the path that rises to the left. Another 50 meters to reach the Col de Foigneux (607 meters altitude). Turn left and take the wide unmarked path. Continue for 150 meters, you will arrive at a paved road and a parking lot. Cross the parking lot to the yellow bench and take the right path that runs alongside the meadow. Continue straight on this path for 300 meters. You will find the "abdominal", "pull-up" equipment and you can admire the view on your right towards Ménil and on your left Le Thillot with the Chaume pond. At the bench, follow the path straight ahead between the ferns to reach an orientation table and 2 benches. Take the time to explore the village of Thillot and in the background that of Ramonchamp with its church. Take the path that is behind the second bench. After 200 meters, you arrive at a picnic table near the Chaillon pond. Pass near a shelter, then cross the walkway and turn left onto the marked red disc path that leads to the arboretum. After 300 meters, take the right path towards the "viewpoint". 200 meters higher, a viewpoint on Fresse-sur-Moselle to the left (bench). Continue straight between the ferns for 200 meters to reach a wider path. At this crossroads, you will face a viewpoint over Le Thillot and the Chaillon pond on your right. Take the marked red disc path that descends to the left. You will be able to observe 2 beech trees linked by a branch. You then overlook the playground seen at the start of the walk. At the crossroads, take the right path taken at the start of the circuit to finish the walk and return to the parking lot.
