Cycling Route Le Valtin (Crests)

Departure: parking of the town hall of Valtin. Head towards the center of the village and cross it. You are evolving in the heart of the ancient glacial valley of Haute Meurthe. This typical Vosges village, nestled in a setting of forests, rocky cliffs, and high-altitude meadows, offers one of the most beautiful landscapes of the Hautes Vosges.

Continue on the D23 to the small pond of Dames, then turn right to ascend the forest road of Rudlin up to the col of Louchbach.

At the col, you join the Route des Crêtes. Take it to the right. You pass in front of the station of Lac Blanc. There is an option to descend there and back to the dam to enjoy the lagoon blue waters of the lake.

Continue on the Route des Crêtes entering the natural reserve of Tanet – Gazon du Faing, an emblematic area of the high pastures, offering wide open panoramic views.

At the col de la Schlucht (1,139 m), the highest mountain pass in the Vosges and historical route between Lorraine and Alsace, turn right and go to Collet, then take the first right on the D417, which descends to Valtin, where you return to your starting point.

A sporty and panoramic loop, ideal for discovering the Route des Crêtes, the high pastures, and the great high-altitude landscapes of the Vosges.
