The Meurthe by bike: from Fraize to the source

From the Fraize Tourist Office, you take the Voie des Dames before joining the cycling path and then the greenway until Plainfaing. From the center of Plainfaing, cross the intersection to continue on the Gérardmer road towards Valtin and the Schlucht pass. After about 2 km, turn right to take the Filature street which allows you to discover the remnants of the old spinning mill, its canal, but also the magnificent greenery theater. Continue towards the Confiserie des Hautes Vosges until Xéfosse street at the exit of the village. Continue towards Valtin. You pass next to the Dames pond and the Saint John the Baptist Chapel.
Arriving at Valtin, you are at the starting point of the ascent to the Schlucht pass. The landscapes are superb, but the elevation changes are severe for nearly 6 km. At the exit of Valtin, turn left towards Schlucht. At the Collet intersection, turn left towards Schlucht. From the Route des Crêtes intersection, the source of the Meurthe is located 1 km on the right, but you are invited to continue to the pass, about 200 meters further to enjoy leisure, dining, and visiting facilities.
As you ascend towards the Route des Crêtes, you will pass by the Haut Chitelet Alpine Garden before arriving at the foot of the Hohneck.
