Hiking - the aviator's grave

Access: From Remiremont, go to Plombières-les-Bains. Take the direction Xertigny/Bellefontaine to reach Ruaux.
Parking: Park in front of the center camping.

Distance: 6 km / Duration: 2 h / Elevation: 270m / Signage: green ring.

1) Start from the center of the village of Ruaux on the main street and then, 200m further, turn left.
2) Near an old calvary, a path on the left leads to the Notre Dame de Consolation chapel (some graves from the old cemetery). Go down to the Chèvrecul stream through the undergrowth.
3) Head towards the old mill of the same name, which ceased operation after World War I (very dilapidated mill, access strictly forbidden). Cross the stream and take a right on a path sometimes obstructed by vegetation. At the next crossroads, the path to the right leads to an older mill, of which only a cellar remains (This is where the millstone installed in the center of Ruaux comes from).
4) Follow a wide path to the right. The aviator's grave is located 10m below this path.
5) Further on, the ruins of a hamlet deserted for about fifty years appear (beautiful cut stones and fountain). The circuit moves away from the forest to approach the farms via a path on the right. It leads to Sybille (former school).
6) 400m after the large farm, turn left, a common section with the Fontaine Stanislas circuit until Ruaux.
7) At Herbaux-Fontaine (fountain and chello), take a grassy path to the right of the hamlet. A staircase with rustic steps leads to the foot of the church (old calvaries). Follow the main street upwards to the starting point.
