Roaming - The Great Tour of the Valley - Stage 1

This first day will gradually take you from the vineyard to the mountain. Starting from Kaysersberg, voted favorite village of the French in 2017, head towards two other wine-growing towns in the valley: Ammerschwihr and Katzenthal. This is part of the famous Alsace Wine Route, with the only difference being that you will traverse it on foot by following the Way of Saint James.

This stage allows you to discover a facet of the emblematic Alsatian heritage. As you stroll through its colorful, flower-filled, and lively villages depending on the season, take the time to meet the winemakers who shape the picturesque landscapes that unfold before your eyes and taste the specialties whose smell follows you.

Next, head to the Galtz monument, erected in memory of the victims of the Great War 1914-1918. This site is also known for the spectacular view it offers over the Alsace plain and the Vosges massif. From up there, you will be able to gauge the path you have already traveled and the one that is still ahead. It marks a turning point in your journey as it signifies your passage into the mountains. Your first day ends in Labaroche, your stopover village for the day.
