Nordic walking is a different concept of walking, much more active. The principle is very simple: it involves enhancing the natural swinging movements of the arms while walking and propelling the body forward with the help of two poles that allow you to go faster and farther. The muscular action is important since 80% of the muscle chains are thus engaged (triceps, abdominals, glutes…). The rhythm is faster than in traditional walking, energy expenditure is increased, and fatigue is felt less thanks to the support of the poles. Unlike running, Nordic walking is less traumatic for the joints.
This activity allows for a reduction in workload on the joints, an improvement in cardio-pulmonary capacities, a general muscular strengthening, and stimulated blood circulation.
Try this sports-level route if you are an experienced athlete and a regular of Nordic walking.
Information about the practice of Nordic walking can be found on rando-bruche.fr.
