The Kasselberg, with a bit of imagination the Mont Ventoux of Flanders, is with its 176 meters the highest hill in the hilly region that stretches between Kemmel in West Flanders and Watten in northern France, the so-called central ridge of hills in the West Flanders hills.
The town of Kassel at the top of the Kasselberg is a nice destination for cyclists, which can be seen already when leaving Poperinge.
This low-traffic and winding route is perfect for a group outing.
* 3 ascents of the Casselberg, especially the last one from Oxelaëre is a challenge. The Rue d'Aire becomes increasingly steeper (up to 18%), but the Porte d'Aire and the Grand Place of Kassel offer welcome recovery.
* Ascent of the Catsberg
* Side of the Zwarte Berg and last but not least... the duo Monteberg-Kemmelberg
