AroundTheVentouxXL

This is the extra long version of the route "RondDeVentoux".

This route along low-traffic roads starts and ends in Mirabel aux Baronnies and follows a route around Mont Ventoux. The Ventoux itself is therefore not climbed. Those who cannot hold back and still want to ride up the Ventoux have 2 options:
- Deviate from the route in Sault and ride via the top of the Ventoux to Malaucène (or to Bédoin!), instead of via the Gorges de la Nesque
- Deviate from the route in Bédoin and ride via the top of the Ventoux to Malaucène, instead of via the col de la Madeleine. This option makes the route much more challenging!
You can of course also start the route at other places than Mirabel, for example in Bédoin, Malaucène, or Sault.
In contrast to some other routes around the Ventoux, this route follows a slightly quieter course on the north side of the Ventoux compared to the well-known (and beautiful) Gorges du Toulourenc. As a reward, however, you get the beautiful col de la croix rouge, the col d'Ey, and the col du Peyruergue as a gift :-)
From Mirabel, the cols are climbed in this order:
Col de la Croix Rouge (510 m)

Col de Peyruergue (820 m)
Col de Perty
Col Saint-Jean
Col de Macuègne (1,068 m)
Col de l'Homme Mort (1,213 m)
Gorges de la Nesque (825 m)
The route between Bédoin and Malaucène is not the classic col de la Madeleine, but a much more challenging route towards Le Barroux, La Roque Alric, and Suzette.
By the way, the route goes via low-traffic roads on a constantly rolling course.
