Finish Day 7 Radfreunde Wormer. Off to Hautacam. The separation in the group has happened and about half give up for this day.
Dismounting from Sazos and taking the gorge to start Hautacam. The ascent is beautiful, but very tough, with many varying gradients. Sometimes it’s 4% and then 12%. One descends a bit and then it’s at 13.5%. This continues almost throughout the entire climb. The curves are not always a moment to rest either. All in all, it’s a very hard chunk that hurts a lot in the legs on the seventh day. When you finally reach the top, you remember again why you think it’s so great, and the pain is quickly forgotten. After the descent, which was fantastic, we returned to Luz-S-Sauveur. The annoying thing is that the return journey again goes through the gorge, with a rise of 2 to 5% over 18 km. Finally, the 3 km to Sazos is terrible. This is the beginning of the climb to Luz-Ardiden.
