This walk focuses on the Réserve naturelle du Platier d'Oye. This relatively young nature reserve - established only in 1987 - is the result of humanity's 'victory' over the sea. The construction of the Taafdijk in 1925 prevented the sea from advancing further past the many sandbanks in this area. The route isn't very long, but since the ground is almost always loose dune sand, you'll definitely feel the kilometers in your calves.
