P02 Saint-Omer-en-Chaussee - Voves

Second ride to the Algarve, from Saint-Omer-en-Chaussée to Voves: 178 kilometers and 1561 meters of elevation. The first part is particularly hilly, the second part is slightly undulating.

You start still in the region Picardy, department ‘de l’Oise’ with a few climbs and some descents, including through the valley of ‘le Thérain’ and l’Avelon’. After 23 km, you will reach the highest point of the ride: 223 m.

After passing through a small part of the region Normandy, department ‘d’Eure’, you successively enter the departments of Val d’Oise and Yvelines that are part of the region Île de France. It continues up and down through the parc naturel régional du Vexin français to ride over the ‘Seine’ in the beautiful Mantes-la-Jolie, after 80 km. The valley of the ‘Seine’ is fairly cut into the landscape, so first a long descent towards it and then back out of the valley with a steady climb of about 4 km. Upon entering Mantes-la-Jolie, you have a good view of ‘la Collégiale Notre-Dame’, a beautiful Gothic church from the 12th and 13th centuries.

You pass Paris on the west side. In Epernon, you enter the region Centre-Val de Loire, department Eure-et-Loir. This last section is clearly flatter.

You arrive in Voves, which is part of Les Villages Vovéens, a municipality in the French department Eure-et-Loir (region Centre-Val de Loire). Les Villages Vovéens was established on January 1, 2016, by the merger of the municipalities Montainville, Rouvray-Saint-Florentin, Villeneuve-Saint-Nicolas, and Voves, which became the main town of the municipality.
