Descripció de l'autor

The route starts near Entrevaux and it is then up to you to decide in which direction you want to do it by bike. The route as it was made goes counter-clockwise (consciously) as the route first passes through the beautiful gorge of Daluis. The gorge is carved by the Var river and pedaling in this direction you continue cycling on the river side and therefore you keep beautiful views of the river. If you were to go down this gorge (i.e. cycle in the opposite direction), you will often have short tunnels on your way and you will not pedal on the side of the river: in short, you will have less frequent views of the river. By the way, you also have unlit tunnels on your way in a climbing direction (so bring lights for the bike).

It is also worth mentioning that here and there, along the Daluis Gorges, there are dead-end climbs with several hairpin bends. From the city of Guillammes, it is possible to make a loop via Valberg without finding yourself in dead ends.

Anyway, the route continues and you climb the beautiful Col des Champs (east side). This road is wider than on the west side. Fortunately, in 2018 the west side was resurfaced, if it wasn't, it was highly recommended to cycle on this road in a different direction (as the road on the west side was bad here and there with a few iron cross gutters on the road). So now the road surface on the west side is good. Because the road on the west side is much narrower than the east side, you can choose to follow this route clockwise (the narrow road contributes to the climbing experience, and the west side is just a little nicer in terms of climbing than the east side). Incidentally, you overcome fewer altimeters on the west side than on the east side .

Through the Verdon valley you cycle to the top of the Col de la Colle Saint-Michel (or Colle Saint Michel) with beautiful views of the Verdon, then descend to Méailles, just before this town follows a short climb with many hairpin bends. Through the valley of the Vaire you enter the valley of the Var and you return quite quickly to Entrevaux.
