The route starts from Ardres, where there are ample parking facilities (also for example along the Route du Lac).

From Ardres, you immediately cycle into the Collines d'Artois, a hilly area with hills reaching just over 200 meters above sea level, and climbs of about 3 kilometers in length.
You will encounter the following climbs:
Le Rietz d'Audenfort,
Côte de Journy,
Bullecamps and Verval.

Then the route goes through the Collines du Boulonnais, a hilly area with bocage landscapes (hedgerows separating fields) and hills up to about 120 meters high. Here you will encounter the following climbs: La Coquerelle and Chemin de la Briqueterie. The climbs that follow have their peaks around 180 meters height, and can therefore be classified again under the Collines d'Artois, although the boundary between the two hilly regions is not really clear:
Mont Dauphin,
Le Ventu d'Alembon,
Mont de Guînes.

You then cycle to the coastal area (the Opal Coast) where you will encounter some climbs that are completely open (leading through fields and meadows) with beautiful views of the English Channel:
Mont de Couple (only the second part),
Hameau de Rameseau,
Mont d'Hubert (Cap Blanc Nez),
Mont Vasseur.

You leave the coastal area again and follow rolling kilometers (up and down) before you reach the marshland of Audomarois. Here you have many small canals and ribbon development, and near Ardres, also some lakes, but in any case, it is flat here.

The roads are generally quite calm to quiet. However, the coastal road along Cap Blanc Nez is busy (but the views make up for a lot), and some departmental routes are a bit busier (especially the D215 and D244 (between the A16 and Guînes), which are therefore followed as briefly as possible).
