One of the most striking and mysterious stories surrounding Dunblane Cathedral concerns the death of Margaret Drummond , a mistress of King James IV of Scotland, and her two sisters. All three are buried in the cathedral. According to tradition, they were poisoned, probably for political reasons, during a banquet at Drummond Castle, where they were staying. This event is often cited as one of the great Scottish mysteries.
