Lanty’s Tarn is a lake in the Lake District, Cumbria, England. The lake, located at the southern end of Ullswater, west of Patterdale, is named after its original owner Launcelet Dobson, who lived on the nearby farm Grasswaite Howe. The lake later came into the possession of the owners of Patterdale Hall. The new owners built a dam, thereby impounding the lake so that it could be used as a fish pond. In winter, the lake served to create an ice supply in an icehouse in the dam of the lake.
