The Scaliger castle of Lazise is a medieval fortress of the Scaliger era placed to defend the ancient lake village of Lazise.
The origins of the castle of Lazise date back to the ninth century, when the inhabitants of the village erected the first defenses to protect themselves from the invasions of the Hungarians, completed at the end of the following century, as evidenced by the privilege granted in 983 by the emperor of the Holy Roman Empire Germanic Otto II, in which he gave the local population the right to complete their defenses.
