This is part of the famous Mille Miglia route. The Mille Miglia (1,000 Miles) started in 1927 and went from Brescia to Rome and back to Brescia. Many renowned drivers, such as Alberto Ascari, Stirling Moss, and Juan Manuel Fangio, raced their classic Bugattis, Ferraris, Jaguars, and Mercedes over these winding Italian roads. It was also called the most beautiful race in the world, but it was also one of the most dangerous; in 1957, it was halted after a fatal crash. Today, the Mille Miglia exists again, albeit as a rally for classic cars and no longer as a race against the clock. It is a route that offers enchanting panoramas. On this route, you also drive past the vineyards that are responsible for the production of the grapes for the famous Brunello.
