The villa was erected in 1897 according to the project by engineer Baraggioli commissioned by Dr. Federico Demaria, head of the Ivrea hospital and husband of Angela Baratti, belonging to the well-known family of confectioners from Milan. The construction work was carried out by the Pilatone company. Corso Costantino Nigra, along which the villa stands, was at the time one of the streets in Ivrea most affected by building development, as it was the artery that connected the historic center of the city with the station via the Nuovo bridge.
