This place has a double history: noble and religious. Originally the building was the palace of Count Chiaramonte, who donated it to the Benedictine nuns in 1290 to turn it into a monastery .
Despite this religious complex, today only fascinating ruins remain. It is necessary to observe them by contextualizing them within the enogastronomic history of this area, as they are linked to the tradition of the abbey's sweets.
Inside the building are the nuns' workrooms , the garden and the ovens , where the baking of bread for the monastery and for the poor once took place, as well as the preparation of the delicious sweets that are still prepared today in the famous local pastry shops.
