In the Luxembourg Gutland, the agricultural area around Redange and Mersch, Luxembourg City and its agglomeration, the industrial area in the southwest, and the wine-growing region Moselle in the southeast are generally distinguished. The landscape will tell you that the agricultural area is nearby; you drive towards Mersch, the prosperous agricultural center of Luxembourg. There is an intense but pleasant animation. The Mamer and the Eisch, two rivers, flow into the Alzette. The Eisch valley will be on the program later. In Luxembourg, there is no village without a castle. The one in Mersch dates back to the twelfth century. Southwest of Mersch, there are seven of them, which - how could it be otherwise - are grouped in the valley of the seven castles. North of Mersch lies the town of Colmar-Berg, which is entirely dominated by the imposing castle of the Grand Dukes. Pettange, to the north of Mersch, has a castle from the thirteenth century, and further south, in Schengen, stands another castle, whose keep dates back to the sixteenth century.
