Description
High above the town of Clervaux, in the heart of the Ardennes, stands a 15th-century castle, a Romanesque church, and also the large Benedictine monastery of Saint-Maurice and Saint-Maur.
The beautiful castle, built high on the rock, towers above the houses of the village that have been built around it in the shape of a horseshoe.
The picturesque view and the natural location of the town in the valley of the river Clerve have made it a popular destination.
The beautiful castle, destroyed during World War II, has been fully restored and today serves as a venerable witness to a glorious past.
The Family of Man
The castle hosts interesting exhibitions. Among other things, there is the remarkable collection of artistic documentary photos by Edward Steichen "The Family of Man" on display.
