A dozen mills have been active on the banks of the Troine and its tributaries, the most famous of which is the former mill of Asselborn. It dates back to the 11th century when it belonged to the Abbey of St. Maximin in Trier.
Today, it is one of the most renowned hotel-restaurants in the region. It houses an art gallery and a museum about mills. In the village of Asselborn, the former post office from the Middle Ages has recently been restored and now houses the Museum of Writings.
