1.5 km from Stolzembourg are the remains of a five-hundred-year-old copper mine. Over the centuries, these copper-rich mines have attracted many people to a village that is still far from the major industrial regions. In 1856, 1887, 1901, and 1938, production was remarkable. The geological path enhances the remains and restores the site to its rightful place in the historical, geological, and mineralogical context of its surroundings. Part of this underground corridor has been open to the public for several years. Fifty meters below the surface, one can get a picture of the difficult working conditions of the copper miner.
The Stoltzembourg copper mine can be visited from early April to the end of October. You can find the exact opening hours on the website.
