Did you know that in the rock layer from the beginning of the Jurassic, no coral deposits can be found? Only later in the Jurassic do we find them again.
The world had started to warm up significantly in the Perm (the period before the Jurassic). The sea was as warm as a hot tub (38 degrees Celsius). The corals completely died out. It would take millions of years until in the Jurassic that corals could develop again.
