VIA BOTANICA
In the far north of the Luxembourg region of Oesling, in the municipality of Kiischpelt, lies a small hamlet named Lellingen. And although this small village looks like most other villages in Luxembourg, there is more to it than meets the eye at first glance. Every spring, the Lellingen forest boasts a sea of daffodils. The yellow flowers cover large parts of the forest and attract many visitors.
Where are the Lellingen Daffodils?
Via Botanica - Planze Wee - Lellingen - Kiischpelt - Luxembourg
Finding the small forest with the daffodils is very simple. Once you arrive in Lellingen, you can park your car in the village or at the edge of the forest. From there, you must follow the Via Botanica, which is a 7.5 km walk away. After about 1.5 km, you will see the first daffodils.
Fortunately, it is very easy to follow the path as it is clearly marked with signs featuring a daffodil, which you will encounter throughout your hike.
When visiting the Via Botanica, please be careful not to walk on the daffodils so that others can also enjoy them. Stay on the path and do not wander into the forest, as the daffodils will stop growing next year if the ground is trampled.
When is the best time to visit the Via Botanica?
The blooms of the Via Botanica can be somewhat unpredictable, and the flowering depends on the current temperatures. Daffodils usually emerge in early April and can last until the end of the month.
If you want to avoid the crowds, steer clear of weekends and come during the week. A visit shortly after sunrise not only provides the best light for photographing the daffodils but also allows you to avoid the crowds that typically come here during the day and before sunset.
