The Nieuwe Vecht is the name of a watercourse in Zwolle that was dug around 1600 between the Overijsselse Vecht and the Nieuwe Wetering in the center of Zwolle.
This canal allowed ships to get faster from the Vecht in Zwolle and vice versa. They didn't have to cross the Black Water anymore. The cargo, mostly Bentheimer sandstone, could thus be transported faster. Along this waterway were many mills that processed agricultural crops from Twente. Of these, only oil mill De Passiebloem remains.
