Aerwinkel Castle in the Limburg town of Posterholt was first mentioned in 1544 and was probably a farmhouse. When the former house disappeared is not known. In 1854, the current mansion was built by Pierre Cuypers on behalf of P.M. Geradts. This mansion has the status of a national monument. There are more buildings associated with the mansion that also have the status of a national monument, including an old barn and a small bathhouse.
