The Vijverpark is a park located in the center of Brunssum in Dutch South Limburg. The park is situated on the south side of the town's center. On the west side is the higher Lindeplein, which features the old Town Hall. The park lies on the edge of the Feldbiss fault.
In December 1918, work began on the mining of the brown coal field Brunahilde II. For six months, more than 400,000 tons of brown coal were extracted by the Dutch-Belgian-English company "Bergerode." In August 1919, the aquifer Feldbiss fault was breached, causing the pit to fill with water quickly and the brown coal extraction to cease.
