Oud-Vossemeer, the progenitor of Roosevelt Oud-Vossemeer has close ties with a well-known presidential family from the United States, namely the Roosevelt family. In the beginning of the 17th century, the ancestor of the Roosevelt family emigrated from Oud-Vossemeer to New Netherland (New York). The Coat of Arms of the Roosevelt family hangs in the Craftsman's House. At the highest point of the village the Dutch Reformed church was built. In front of the church is a monument, which indicates the 4 freedoms. The village blacksmith Johannes Verkerke made a blacksmith's clock in the 18th century, which can still be seen on the façade of the former blacksmith's shop in the Voorstraat.
