Houdt Braef Stant is an octagonal wooden grist mill. The mill was originally built in 1856. At the mill, the very high scaffolding stands out, which rises no less than 10.25 meters above the ground. A scaffolding mill is a tall windmill with a gallery or scaffolding. Such a mill is usually located in built-up areas and must be high in order to catch sufficient wind within the built-up area, the free wind catch. The blades and tail do not reach to the ground. In order to be able to operate the mill, there must be a rack (also called circulation) halfway up the height, which runs around the mill. From this position, the mill is seasoned (cross is the turning of the sail cross so that it is aimed 'at the wind') and the sails are presented to the sails. Downstairs you have a large space to drive in by horse and carriage or car, without being at risk from the rotating blades.
In 2011 the mill was thoroughly restored and milled. The mill regularly runs again and occasionally even grinds again.
