Margraten is a former municipality in the southern part of the Dutch province of Limburg. The municipality had 13,370 inhabitants and covered an area of 5,767 hectares. On January 1, 2011, the municipality was dissolved and became part of the new municipality of Eijsden-Margraten.
The municipality of Margraten in its last known form was established during the municipal reorganization on January 1, 1982. On that date, the previously independent municipalities of Margraten, Cadier en Keer, Noorbeek, Mheer, Bemelen, and Sint Geertruid, as well as the core Scheulder of the former municipality of Wijlre, were merged.
