The Kegelhuis (later Hotel Aaldering) in Zeddam was demolished in October 2006. In the already mentioned booklet with postcards from 's-Heerenberg and Zeddam, photo number 57 states: "Before we walk into Benedendorpstraat, we first pass the house of Th. van Remmen. At least, this was the case in 1910 when this photo was taken. Later it became the property of the Bieleveldt family, who in turn transferred the property to the current owners, the Aaldering family."
Aaldering did not take over the name 't Kegelhuis from Bieleveldt because in the telephone book you are listed under A before K!
The photo has been preserved, but the building was demolished in 2006.
According to Ben Herfkens, there was already a house on this site before 1650. Antoon Smits was a baker there from 1866 to 1875. His daughter Maria married Th. (Theodorus) van Remmen.
