Café Brinks in Zeddam has a long history. A house already stood on this site before 1630. The name Brinks is still visible on the shop window, which now serves as the entrance to the travel agency Diving World located above it, and thus borders Brinks Pancakes, which opened on February 2, 2011.
Zeddam, also referred to as Mairie Zeddam, is the largest church village of Bergh. After the establishment of municipalities, Zeddam was briefly an independent municipality from 1811 to 1820, which also included Azewijn. The town hall was located in the building at Bovendorpsstraat 7, where the café and grocery store Brinks later was located.
The coat of arms of the former municipality of Zeddam features a hunting horn and a hill, referring to the then-hunting lodge at Montferland. Zeddam is an important center for tourism in Montferland with its many hotels, guesthouses, and holiday homes. The name Zeddam (Sydeheim; Ziedem) likely means: low dwelling place. The village developed around the church in the so-called Bovendorp, which is higher than the later developed Benedendorp.
