The Weerterbos is a nature reserve in the Dutch province of Limburg, located to the northwest of Weert. The area is situated within the municipality of Nederweert. The Weerterbos consists of forests, peat bogs, grasslands, and small heath fields. Since 1969, the Limburgs Landschap foundation has been purchasing land in the Weerterbos. In 2008, this foundation managed an area of 615 hectares there. However, many small plots are still privately owned. Historically, the Weerterbos was located within the territory of the municipality of Weert. In the early 1990s, an exchange of land occurred between Weert and Nederweert, making the A2 highway the boundary between the two municipalities. The Weerterbos then became part of Nederweert.
