On the façade of the beautiful 18th century Rupelmonde you can see statues of Neptune and Mercury. Neptune was the god of the sea, Mercury the god of trade. Three guesses what the then owner made his money with...! The turret was only built in 2012. It is a reconstruction of a turret that once stood on it, as can be seen in an old print. It served as an example to recreate the exact same tower. The clock that hangs in it used to warn the residents and their staff when it was dinner time.
