WVV Wageningen was founded on August 27, 1911. A year later, Velox was incorporated into the club. From the first edition of the Eerste divisie in 1956, WVV Wageningen played professional football. In 1978, a separate professional branch was established: FC Wageningen, which went bankrupt in 1992. The greatest success of WVV Wageningen was winning the KNVB Cup. WVV won the cup in 1939 as the first club from Gelderland ever and in 1948 the cup was claimed for the second time.
