Station Simpelveld

Simpelveld is a railway station in the former town of Simpelveld. The station was opened on 23 October 1853 and originally had a length of 100 metres. In 1975 it was partially demolished, with the removal of the goods shed, various service areas, the retide and the waiting room. Of the original length, 38 meters remain. The station was finally closed for public passenger services on 31 May 1992. Until then, the men of the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee brigade Simpelveld also served in the building. As a lasting memory, the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee, at the request of the South Limburg Steam Train Company, has given permission to place a plaque at the entrance of the former visitation room.
