The Diogenes bunker is a bunker located on Koningsweg in Schaarsbergen (next to the entrance of De Hoge Veluwe). This bunker served as the command center of the Third Hunting Division (3. Jagddivision) of the Luftwaffe and was during World War II the nerve center of the air defense of the Netherlands, the northern half of Belgium, the Ruhr area, and a strip of Germany along the Dutch eastern border. Diogenes had direct contact with the headquarters of the Luftwaffe in Berlin. The Germans had several such command centers. Bunkers were located in Stade near Hamburg, in Grove, and in Metz.
