The town hall of the Groninger municipality of Winsum is a former notary's house, built in 1911. The building was designed by the Groninger architect Gerrit Nijhuis. The client was Cornelis de Ranitz, who was a notary in Winsum from 1910 to 1947. During World War II, the building was requisitioned by the German occupier. In 1942 it was designated as the town hall. The building is designed in the style of the Dutch Renaissance. It has two stories, is built of brown brick, and features a corner turret and stepped gables. In 1995, it was expanded at the rear according to a design by the Groninger architecture firm Karelse Van der Meer. The building is a national monument.
