The Ravensbosch is partially located in the municipality of Valkenburg aan de Geul, with another, larger part situated in the municipality of Beekdaelen near Hulsberg and Schimmert. The Ravensbosch is a varied slope forest with elevation differences of about 50 meters and an area of around 80 hectares. In the forest, there are two ponds that are dammed up by two embankments. The very hilly forest, although located near busy traffic routes, has remained relatively unknown. The forest is accessible from all directions and seems to offer a different view from each 'entrance'. The forest features a long expanse of narrow and wide paths.
