Wilhelminasluis
The Wilhelminasluis is a lock in the Afgedamde Maas near Andel. The lock was built around 1896 in the 800 m long dam that separates the Maas and the Waal; the lock ensures that navigation between the Maas and the Waal remains possible. The lock (and the dam) also serve as a primary flood defense and have a so-called 'retaining height' of 6.8 m above sea level. The lock is still in use and is managed by Rijkswaterstaat Zuid-Holland, Water district Merwede & Maas.
