The natural elevation in the landscape here was, for the founder of the Lunterse Buurtbos (notary van den Ham), the ideal place to place a resting point with a tea house at the end of the 19th century. Over the years, this little building grew with the trees into the lookout tower as it stands now.
The Koepel is now a National Monument and the last restoration took place in 2009.
Climbing the tower is possible from Easter until the Autumn holiday from 14:00 to 17:00 (not on Mondays).
The view is definitely worth it (in clear weather)!
