The Canal from Macharen to Oss or Burgemeester Delenkanaal is a canal of about 5 km in length that connects Oss with the Meuse and was built in 1963.
Already towards the end of the 19th century there were plans for a canal from Oss to the Meuse, as the margarine industry needed a shipping connection and the port of Lithoijen could only be reached by horse and cart by land. The various canal plans from 1889 caused a lot of quarrels between the competing manufacturers Jurgens and Van den Bergh. Arnold van den Bergh's plan provided for a canal up to Oss Station. This was opposed by competitor Jurgens. This led to Van den Bergh leaving for Rotterdam in 1891, which would cause a lot of turmoil and social misery. Plans for the canal were cancelled.
