The nature reserve Willeskop is also known as a 'bird magnet' due to its enormous numbers of birds. Its tranquil location, along with the amount of water and food, makes it a true bird magnet.
Many birds have now discovered the area as an ideal resting and breeding place. The area can be regarded as one of the largest bird nurseries in the Green Heart. Many wading birds are present in this area; black-tailed godwit, lapwing, redshank, oystercatcher, shoveler, long-tailed duck, silver heron, mute swan, and many species of geese.
