The Amsterdam – Rhine canal is just as its name suggests a canal connecting Amsterdam with the river Rhine. It connects the harbors of Amsterdam with the Rhur industrial area and is the busiest canal in the world. It is 72 kilometers long, 100 to 120 meters wide and 6 has meters depth.
Just before World War Two it was decided the canal had to be build, but its construction was only finished in 1952.
