Il canale Amsterdam – Reno è proprio come suggerisce il suo nome un canale che collega Amsterdam con il fiume Reno. Collega i porti di Amsterdam con l'area industriale della Ruhr ed è il canale più trafficato del mondo. È lungo 72 chilometri, largo da 100 a 120 metri e ha una profondità di 6 metri.
Poco prima della Seconda Guerra Mondiale si decise che il canale doveva essere costruito, ma la sua costruzione fu completata solo nel 1952.
