The Gaasp is a small river between Driemond and Diemen. The Gaasp connects the Gein with the Diem and runs west of the Amsterdam-Rhine Canal.
The Gaasp hardly flows anymore. Originally, it was part of the large swamp that was Holland and the rainwater from the Gein flowed through the Gaasp into the Diem and then into the IJsselmeer. Later, the Weespertrekvaart was dug to create an inland connection between the Gaasp and the Amstel.
